Journey Of An Entrepreneurial, Corporate Culture Creator

Review of Delivering Happiness: A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose; Tony Hsieh; Business Plus 2010; Hardcover, pp 246

– Susan Thomas

Tony Hsieh’s mantra is that experiences are more important than money and this is the very ethos that he lives by and the essence of Zappos. Right up front, Tony admits that there is no fancy prose or suspenseful plot. It is just his life story and the creation of Zappos in an honest to goodness approach.

The author takes his readers on a funny and a refreshingly candid journey of his street smart gigs in high school, his entrepreneurial adventures at Harvard and multiple jaunts through the start up world – all of his adventures embody the spirit of fun, lifelong learning and fearlessness.

A very inspirational and idea provoking story of an enterprising, fun loving and risk taking dabbler who clearly knows how to work hard and play hard. With the end of my MBA in sight, I found this is to be an especially engaging story for business graduates who want to balance profits with purpose.
