India’s Best Prime Minister Ever – Manmohan Singh

Prolific writer and satirist, Khushwant Singh, writes in his latest Absolute Khushwant: The Low-Down on Life, Death and Most things In-between about an incident where current Prime Minister Manmohan Singh returned him Rs two lakh that was borrowed for campaigning use. This was right after he lost the Lok Sabha election from South Delhi, in 1999.

His son-in-law had approached the author for the sum to be used for hiring taxis, but didn’t have to spend even a penny of it. The man’s honest nature appealed the 95-year-old author so much that he is all praises for our PM Singh in his book co-written by columnist Humra Quraishi and published by Penguin Books.

Khushwant mentions that Manmohan Singh opened India to the world, through his far-sighted policies and strategies. He gave life to the country’s private sector and put it on the path of progress.
